On Saturday, 13 September 2025, the largest European event in the field of vocational education and training, EuroSkills Herning 2025, concluded in Herning, Denmark. Over the course of a week, nearly 600 young professionals from 33 countries competed in 38 different skill categories.

In his address, Ben Blackledge, Chair of the WorldSkills Europe Board, emphasized that once again young people have demonstrated how skills inspire and help build a fairer and more sustainable Europe. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, Chair of the Organising Committee, described Herning as a “workshop of Europe’s future,” where visitors—from EU ministers to schoolchildren—had the opportunity to experience vocational skills live.

The Slovenian delegation returned home with one bronze medal and four Medallions for Excellence.

Domen Filipič from the Škofja Loka School Centre placed 3rd in the CNC Milling category, earning a bronze medal in a highly competitive field.

Medallions for Excellence, which recognize a high standard of performance, were awarded to:

  • Urban Krepel from the Velenje School Centre (Web Development)

  • Leja Brenkuš Porenta from the Biotechnical Centre Naklo (Floristry)

  • Nika Kohne from the Secondary School of Design (Hairdressing)

  • The ICT team, consisting of Matej Stipetić and Tim Thuma from Vegova Ljubljana

The highlight of the closing ceremony at the Jyske Bank Boxen arena was the presentation of the Jos de Goey Best in Europe Award, which was awarded to Loris Cubizolles from France, the gold medallist in CNC Milling.

Sincere congratulations to all competitors!

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic handover of the WorldSkills Europe flag to the next hosts—Germany and Luxembourg, where EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027 will take place.
